Elkhart Plastics, Inc. (EPI) is one of the largest custom rotational molding companies in the United States. EPI was founded over 30 years ago and originally began serving the RV industry with water and holding tanks. Today with six locations across the United States, EPI supplies materials for more than 30 different industries using the most advanced rotational molding equipment.

Recognizing Business Challenges

EPI’s previous training method was composed of internal and external trainers who traveled from plant to plant and primarily focused on salaried staff members. Despite this offering, Bonnie Turner, Human Resources Director, began searching for a new solution to expand their current training strategy.

“We felt we really needed to do something more.”

A large amount of EPI’s leadership staff was composed of individuals who grew up in the company and received internal promotions to leadership positions throughout the years.

Because there wasn’t a formal new manager training program in place, newly promoted leaders were often left without the proper training they needed to succeed.

Thus, the search for an online learning partner began. With EPI’s manufacturing environment, they wanted to provide a training solution to employees that could be accessed easily and quickly. Bonnie explained, “We wanted something that everyone at every plant could do.”

Modern Learning Solution

After researching several options, EPI chose BizLibrary to be their online learning and training partner because it was the best fit for the organization. The variety and availability of the BizLibrary Collection makes it easy for the manufacturing plant employees to access training anytime, anywhere.

Bonnie no longer frets about delivering consistent and timely training. The convenience of the microlearning library allows employees to participate in training without encountering a major interruption in their busy schedules.

The employees at EPI appreciate the relevance and updated library of courses available at their fingertips. Outside of regularly assigned content, many EPI employees participate in self-directed learning, seeking out new material to grow personally and professionally.

Bonnie proudly tells us, “I have one gentleman that actually formatted his own training program of things he wants to take. It’s been a really great asset to the company!”

Embracing Change

One of the business challenges EPI recognized early on was the need for proper new manager training.

“What we say our values are is respect, integrity, trust, and effort. That’s the types of things we try to impart on our leadership, and they’re embracing it,” Bonnie Turner

The core skills library supported Bonnie’s initiative to integrate company values into their training program by offering leadership and management essentials such as communication, decision making, emotional intelligence, change management, and more!
